Russia`s Nadia Petrova wins opening match at Advanta Championships
VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania - Nadia Petrova of Russia followed her first career title in Austria last week by winning her opening match at the Advanta Championships on Wednesday, beating Belarus qualifier Tatiana Poutchek 6-4, 6-2.
Petrova`s victory at Linz qualified her for next week`s WTA Tour Championships in Los Angeles, for the first time.
A semifinalist at Villanova in 2003 and 2004, sixth-seeded Petrova will play Russian wild card Yaroslava Shvedova in the second round.
Meanwhile, Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic, beaten by Petrova in the Linz semifinals, routed Jill Craybas of the United States 6-1, 6-1.
